The highest contribution of GHGs in the United States comes from the transportation sector, nearly 30% of all emissions in the USA. Light-duty vehicles (personal vehicles) account for 58% of all emissions within the transportation sector. By comparison, aircraft make up 10% of transportation emissions.
Currently, 1.8% of all personal vehicles sold in the USA are electric. This number will continue rising.
As the use of electric vehicles and therefore their production increases over the next decade, it’s important to examine just how sustainable they really are.
